One of the most innovative projects in the initiation of what we expect to be an annual tree planting festival in Nepal. Buddhas birthday usually occurs around mid-April which also coincides with the beginning of the tree planting season in the Nepal Himalayas. Trekkers with  Journeys  will travel north into the Himalayas near Gorkha and establish a camp in the community of Sirandanda. Here we have made arrangements with the local Buddhist Monastery to establish a community forestry project in cooperation with local people. Eventually, the project will include a nursery, a large secure enclosure and a festival site where local people will come to celebrate the Buddha's Birthday and learn about starting their own overstay projects.
