Exploration of extreme east Nepal is for experienced trekkers who seek complete escape into the wildest, richest part of the Himalayas. Few have yet ventured into this area and little is known about the trails, cultures or ecology of the area. The area is extremely isolated and difficult to reach, but several JOURNEYS staffs are from this area and provide local knowledge of trails and towns. Expect close-up views of Kanchenjunga. We typically head up the Tamur River past Ghunsa for the north Kanchenjunga Base Camp after flying into Taplejung in a chartered aircraft. There will be optional mountaineering opportunities.
