Helambu, Gosainkunda and Langtang areas lie north of Kathmandu abutting the
three sides of the high range of Gosainkunda Lekh. They do not form a compact geographical region but Helambu in the
south-east, Gosainkunda in the west and Langtang in the north can be inter-connected by interesting treks. Gosainkunda Lekh acts as a divide between the waters of the Kosi system in the east and Gandaki system in the west. The treks provide high contracts between the tropical valleys of Trisuli and Indrawati to the alpine pastures of Gosainkunda and Langtang within a short travelling distance.
