The Everest Monastery trek is an Everest trek with a Buddhist spiritual emphasis. Few trekkers are aware of the monasteries active in secluded higher valleys. On this trip you will learn about Sherpa culture through the vision of Buddhist monks and lamas who are the personal friends of your guide. In addition to your senior Journeys Sherpa guide, you will be accompanied by a Sherpa Buddhist monk. He will offer cultural and spiritual insights, give occasional Dharma talks about Buddhism, and share his daily rituals with interested trekkers. While Buddhism and Sherpa culture are principal attractions of the trip, you will also be immersed in the mystique of Chomolungma, "Mother Goddess of the World", Mt. Everest. One of the monasteries the group will visit, Tengboche, offers incredible views for contemplation of this sacred peak. This monastery is now reconstructed after a catastrophic fire in 1989.
